When Christian people ask
me for the sacramental laying-on-of-hands for healing, I pray "Receive the Holy
Spirit for your comfort, for strength to cope, and for the healing power of
God's love in your life." This is a prayer, not for a cure, but for healing:
inner wholeness. Some of our difficulties are temporary; many troubles we face
are chronic, and it is often puzzling why such adversities come our way. I am
confident, however, that God will provide us with the strength to cope with
whatever comes our way - if we but ask.
